The Story of My Mental Game

My Mental Game originated from a strong personal desire to provide young athletes and their parents with the necessary tools to navigate the demanding journey of elite-level sports. The company was established by two partners who have personally experienced this journey, and who have combined their expertise in psychology and professional training and development to create a powerful tool. Their aim is to help young high-performance athletes achieve their full potential while prioritizing their mental health and well-being, both during and beyond their athletic careers.

Kyle Johnson, Co-Founder

Kyle Johnson is a lifelong hockey player. Growing up, Kyle played Junior A (BCHL) before getting the chance to play at Yale University (NCAA D1) where he received a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science, studying social and moral psychology.

Since a young age, Kyle has had an interest in sports psychology, mental health, and performance. He has faced numerous challenges and spent many years looking for the best tools and guidance. This led him to co-found My Mental Game. Today, he strives to offer young athletes the resources and encouragement to engage ideas in psychology for their own benefit. He aims to help these athletes develop self-understanding and pursue a meaningful life in sports.

Murray Seward, Co-Founder

Before launching My Mental Game, Murray Seward founded Outback Team Building & Training, one of the world’s largest corporate team building and employee development firms. He’s also a former baseball and soccer coach and a parent to a young elite athlete.

Murray’s interest in mental performance began with his businesses and has now transitioned into sport. Having experienced first-hand the trials and tribulations of raising a young elite athlete, and after investing years of time with many parents all in the same situation, he knew there needed to be a better way to navigate this period for both athletes and their parents. He co-founded My Mental Game to help young athletes and their parents to better enjoy this exciting time together.
